"American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History" is Chris Kyle's biography that gives a unique perspective on the inside workings of elite teams performing special operations during Iraq's war.

There are detailed descriptions of the weaponry used, how mission task forces were created, and the mindset of people fighting there. It's not an old history book, it has its own personality. With Chris Kyle's dry humour and Taya Kyle's conflicted emotions about having a husband, who loves his country enough to repeatedly go to war.

This book does require a strong stomach. War requires people to have obvious black and white viewpoints. You point a gun at me or my people, I will shoot to kill. There are no if, but, or maybes to consider. It also devalues the opposite into a number on your hit score list. Also, Chris Kyle is an old school Texan with a certain view of family values and religion, which is his prerogative in his own home and in his own book. To a civilian, it most certainly will sound crude and cold. But you get to read it while soldiers have to live it.

Besides writing an amazing book, Chris Kyle founded with partners a tactical training company Craft International and worked with different non-profit organizations to help veterans.

It is not for everybody, no book is. But if you criticize others, you better understand their viewpoint. It takes courage to repeatedly leave your country, home, and family to return to a warzone.
