A darngood read, great story. I only gave it four stars becuase I was never emotionally involved. Seems to me that my "favourite" books are the ones thyat rip your heart ut! LOL THis was an easy read but Marrowe theives really moved me, so I was slightly diappointed... bvut still HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Loved so much avbout this - how little bits of indigenous and witch history and lore get sneaked in.

There were whole paragraphs I wanted to read to someone... should have marked them. A ruly well told story.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a feel good story of female empowerment right at a time when I needed it. The ending was predictable but I still enjoyed the journey the author took you through to get there.

A very standard witch adventure. The author clearly used a spreadsheet to check of the "right" items for her coven members and there's way too much standard characterization and plotting for this to be above average. At least there's good pacing and just enough of a story to keep it from being below average.

Lucky St. James lives with and takes care of her grandmother who is suffering from dementia. She finds a spoon. Yes, a magical spoon, and that starts her on a road trip to meet other members of the coven and find another spoon. The bad guy is also very standard. One of the most annoying little nits was that Lucky left Toronto, where she and here grandmother were going to be evicted, and somehow she left her laptop there rather than bringing it with her. No, not vaguely realistic, even in a fantasy.

This is a book that will stay with you after you finish it. The story is well written and the characters are engaging. I also really appreciate that this book is exploring deeper concepts like patriarchy, colonialism, divinity but that it does that without losing the story. It’s like a glimpse into a world I’d like to live in filled with quirky people I’d love to call friends. I will reread this book and find new things to be delighted in and enjoy because there’s complexity to the story and the details. I will be recommending this book a lot in the months to come.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Amazing story with intricately woven threads, each containing their own story within a story, a nesting doll of tales if you will.

I love everything about this book. Seven spoons endowed with powerful magic that bring together seven women to form the final coven whose goal is to end the patriarchy. Yes, please.

This book feels like a big departure for Dimaline, and I really enjoy authors spreading their wings. Unfortunately, despite the great character work (especially between Lucky and Stella), much of the story’s lore and world building broke the book’s tension.

Glad to see Dimaline trying something new, this one felt a little undercooked for me.
