just started listening to the audio version of this classic. so far, it's pretty captivating.
Não tinha quaisquer expectativas e ainda bem, porque não me convenceu... Não foi um livro de me encher as medidas, muitas vezes me aborreci e pensei "mais do mesmo". A história não me conquistou e achei Dean insuportável.
full disclosure: i had a truly laughably bad soviet translation that could only pass for people who were banned from american culture for decades so that probably affected my enjoyment of the book. lol.

Read right after this side of paradise which added to the experience. Ready for a book nkt focused in the plights if university age lost men, but I loved it all the same. Made me happy and sad and scared a little.
a little long winded and almost like the ramblings of a crazy person but that is the whole point of it I think that sal picks up the addictive observation and interest in everything around him and can talk and talk because he has done and done and traveled and traveled so there is no limit to the subject matter. The nomad aspect I like but you can see after a little while that someone who fully commits to this “bum” lifestyle as they call it finds it so hard to settle down ever, no matter how hard they try. I also like the end of how they exit America for the first time and dean still finds his way back, he’s got a crazy urge to always leave but he can’t seem to follow through.
Meh.
I enjoyed the poetry of the writing here and there. Mostly though, it was a slog.

i read the entire book and retained none of it. worst book i’ve ever read for school and i read song of solomon
I loved the story and how in certain moments the characters were as one with the car they were driving and the people they met. On the other hand I didn't like how the author focuses on describing things that aren't very important, sometimes making the book less interesting.
