Every blog, article, podcast, and tv show says I should like this book but it is TERRIBLE. I honestly don't know how I finished it, or why. Just not the style of book for me.

one of the best things anything can do is make me horny.

Pilnīgs boooors. Ja gribas kārtīgu on the road romānu, kas turklāt būtu interesants un asprātīgs un nevienveidīgs, ņemiet Bolanjo "Mežonīgos detektīvus" vai Hunter S. Thompson "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"

Was hard to see how invested the main character Sal was in this other loose cannon character Dean, almost to the point of obsession. We could see that when Sal was alone, he was much more thoughtful, reflective, inspired, but when he was with Dean, he was more of a follower. He would follow this man Dean to the ends of the earth, when we clearly saw Dean leave Sal when  he needed Dean the most, suffering of dysentery in Mexico City. I think if I had read this book five years ago, when I was younger and maybe a bit more lost, I would have loved the characters a bit more, for the adventure of it all traveling across the country with little more than what was on their backs. But i think reading this as someone who is a bit older, it was hard getting around the characters and their flaws.

this book captures a singular and beautiful feeling in the first 50 pages that it then repeats and repeats each time feeing hollower than the last until finally there is nothing of that feeling left
