Second time I've read this one
My ex partner used to try to get me to read this all the time. This, and Catcher In The Rye, as well as Bukowski (neither of which I have gotten around to reading yet). I have come to learn now, as an older human being, as a woman who knows and loves myself much more than I did when I was with that person, that this book was not made for me. I used to feel like an idiot or a failure for not "getting" the books he recommended to me. Now I know that while I can appreciate a piece of art, it does not HAVE to resonate with me, and I absolutely not not HAVE to enjoy it. And so, 2 stars for On The Road!
