Engaging narrative that introduces a lot of science to children.

Volunteered by a teacher to report on the aquarium for a newsletter, Marena finds herself simultaneously working out how to be a writer and researcher, and how to solve mysteries.

With a lot of content on coral reefs and sea creatures and an introduction to the real-life Ocean X explorations, Marena also brings the mystery of the electricity going out at night to the story - which itself is based on a real incident.

This was short and has lots to teach young people. It's not literary fiction but it will with luck make readers curious about the oceans, conservation and the real research vessel.

For ages 8-11.
