Very well written, thoroughly enjoyed.

I appreciate that the author is explicit in his politics and opinions rather than posing as impartial while allowing his biases to creep in as is so common.

It was often difficult to keep track of all the various players and factions at play during this time however that is not so much a criticism of Miéville's writing than a comment on how ridiculous and convoluted the reality of the situation was.

Great on the broad sweep and the small details though one my find oneself hungry for analysis of all that occurs between those levels.

A fascinating, month-by-month look at Russia during 1917. Miéville provides both a macro-level overview of the chaos that gripped Russia and its political entities as well as insights into Lenin, Trotsky, Kerensky, and many others' minds as they jockeyed for position.

It was a great refresher but I'd also recommend it for someone looking to learn about the dual Russian Revolutions for the first time.

“Unputdownable”

A well written fast paced history of the Russian Revolution(s) of February and October 1917 with a short sketch of the circumstances that lead to those events and a small epilogue about the aftermath of civil war and the horroryears of the early Soviet Union
