I feel like this book and the previous one could have been so much better if they’d just been one book. Alone, they both feel short and sort of incomplete.

That said, I’m still loving the series. I’m fascinated by the worldbuilding, in love with all of the characters, and dying to know what happens next!

This should've been the end of the series, but as you know, there's a 4th book and the author plans on writing more in the future. We'll see how that goes.

This one was entertaining. I liked the direction of the plot and how Lily and her aliens were progressing with their relationship. Drrak was a welcome addition. But I was basically done with this series at the end of book 2. It's gotten really repetitive.

Overall, average. I think book 1 might've been the best. There was mystery and intrigue and firsts with that book. Now it's all recycled material.

Would I recommend this book? Only if you're in love with the series. Other than that, I would probably skip it.

Happy reading, Goodreads fiends.

Only complaint is there was never any explanation of who, what, and why they were attacked. Also was hoping for more on the bird guy and werewolf guy.

Good ending

The felt like a good ending, though it also felt a bit incomplete. There are questions left dangling, possibilities thrust out there and a potential new mate that is mentioned, quite literally, on the last page. I’m unsure of all of that - though the whole of the story was good.

There are a few things I disliked that were hard to ignore.

1) (a major point) It was like listening to someone tell me about a movie rather than me watching it.

2) In addition to the first point, the development of characters and interpersonal relationships weren't explored deep enough. The development did not unfold but rather it was told to me and the pacing was too fast. As such, I could not connect to Lily and Drrak's relationship.

3) I am conflicted about the language glossary. It seems unnecessary. I do appreciate the glossary, which explains key things about the alien planet and the culture differences, but most of the foreign words spoken could easily have the English translation after it. At times, it was frustrating to flick the pages to translate short sentences that when I did manage to understand, I got more frustrated as it felt tedious and unnecessary.

4) The language glossary wasn't even in alphabetical order.

5) (minor) I cringed when she joined the funeral cry ... it could be just me but I imagined her howling ... that can't be right. 🤔🫢

6) The epilogue had too much info crammed in. I read the blurb for book 4 and then realised that it was to continue on from there but isn't an epilogue supposed to be at the end of a series or of a story? Thought it was the end then saw book 4.

Didn't want to continue but I probably will.

Great ending

I have truly enjoyed the series. Lily is a great character and her aliens make me sigh. Good story line although it leaves a couple of items open ended - like why the enemy banded together or a definitive outcome with the pantari. But it doesn't detract from the overall love story and acceptance of differences theme. And can I just say Tor and the eyebrows was awesomely funny & I'm still giggling over it.
