That’s by far my favorite of the series! I loved this retelling of Austen’s Persuasion. Elliot and Wentworth second-chance story was just so heartfelt. I took quite a few notes/quotes from the book, most of them conveying love and tenderness, but also some laugh-out-loud moments. I mentioned it in previous reviews of the series, but the illustrations scattered throughout the book are a really nice touch! I’m looking forward to the next installment.

I started reading Elliot, Song Of The Soulmate with a plan to read a few chapters then go to sleep early; suddenly it was midnight and I had to finish the last chapter.

I've adored every one of Anyta Sunday's contemporary MM adaptations of Jane Austen books, but I think this is going to be my favourite.

I'm a huge sucker for a steadfast, capable, loving MC (Wentworth, you big beautiful man) and the second chance aspect of this Persuasion rewrite gives the book that special Anyta Sunday slow burn feel I adore.

I think I swooned about 16 times reading this, so it's lucky I was reading in bed.

I received a copy of this book from the author and I have chosen to leave an honest review.

I skipped book four…the premise sounded like angst, hate, and miscommunication and a mess I didn’t want to deal with; and although Ethan and Finley are in this book, it’s not necessary to read it for Elliot’s story. Books two and three didn’t wow me so I went into this one with trepidation. And while there was a lack of communication here, it didn’t bother me as much and I liked this book as much as I did book one.

There is pain in this one, but I’m a sucker for second chance romances and man did I like Wentworth. During their first meeting in the opening scene, I knew I’d like this story. It’s broken into two parts – the early years and the reconnect. The early years is a VERY quick look at how they meet and fall in love. It spans almost two years but is told in 6 chapters. I almost gave up because it was like speed-dating, and I was going to be very disappointed with that pace. However, it was only for stage-setting and the pace of Part II was better.

Wentworth is everything…maybe a little crazy the first time they meet but he’s sweet, enamored, and everything anyone should want in a partner. And Elliot crushed him. I was upset at first about the lack of communication, but their second chance worked for me – every part of it. They reconnected and got to know each other all over again, and worked just as well the second time around as the first.

The ending confused me a bit…I stared at my kindle for longer than I should have. It’s an HEA but so abrupt it startled me. I don’t think anything was missing, I just wasn’t prepared.

Ultimately, this is my favorite of the series with Lake and Knight closely following. The graphics are just as amazing in this book as the previous in the series and sadly, my favorite part of each book so far.

Noah is in the next book it appears and is a retelling of Sense and Sensibility. He intrigued me and I like the original, so I’ll be in for it.
