I've read this book three times over the span of a few years and every time I read it, I feel all the emotions. That is a rarity for books and even more of a unicorn for HP books. This book deals with infidelity which is a hot topic issue for me. I hate it when it occurs in real life and I'd prefer not to read about it in love stories but the breakdown or cracks in a romantic relationship do sometimes lead to infidelity. If one must write a love story about infidelity, let it be like this book. It offers a nuanced and layered story of a couple who have been married for years with three small children. The h's friend tells her that her H is cheating on her and has been seen taking another woman out and about town. This happens at the beginning of the book and the rest of the book is how the couple tries to work their way through it. It's very angsty and an emotional rollercoaster but I (painfully) enjoyed it.
**Soapbox moment**
I liked how MR developed Rachel's Stella Got Her Groove Back-ness. Rachel, like many women/moms, put herself on the backburner and assumed motherhood as her identity. She lost sight of who she was and that's also why she failed to really understand the state of her marriage. I hate Daniel for what he did. I consider it cheating even if he didn't cheat physically. But this book really illustrated for me how a couple can recover from infidelity.

I enjoyed how the author portrayed the fmc’s emotions through the story. I felt for her (didn’t cry though).
I discovered a new trope I enjoy… when the MMC is older and marries the FMC when she’s very young. Eventually the FMC gets older and suddenly realizes that she’s been naive and that the MMC doesn’t treat her like an equal, so she fights back. This is also the dynamic in Poldark.
