If you enjoyed the way Douglas Adams wrote, you may like the style of this book. It’s such a unique story too…

Amazing. This may be one of my all time favourite books. So unusual and dark and beautiful.

What a nasty little debaucherous read (complimentary). Perfume is a book that contemplates whether or not you can really know yourself and your desires as we follow Jean-Baptiste Grenouille as he weaves through his existence with a superhuman sense of smell. The ways that scent is described throughout this book is a real treat. The scent is not always pleasant, but it's a clever approach to recreating the griminess of eighteenth century France. This book did have a couple of pacing issues, particularly near the middle of the text; however, these were relatively minor. I think that keeping the novel short and contained was a smart choice here. This book is not going to be for everyone, but it was definitely for me.
