Nach wie vor ein Meisterwerk (Wortanspielung beabsichtigt) und mein Lieblingsjugendbuch. Seit Jahren geht mir die Erzählung um Krabat nicht aus dem Kopf und das Hörbuch hat mir bestätigt, wieso. Das Magiesystem ist faszinierend originell, die Geschichte spannend und düster sowie unglaublich intensiv erzählt. 
Den Sprecher des Hörbuchs fand ich toll. Die Charaktere fühlten sich dadurch noch echter an.

So toll! Ich bin froh, dass ich Krabat endlich gelesen habe. Voll klassisch märchen-isch aber trotzdem zieht es dich ein.

Atmospheric, with beautiful depiction of friendship and a fun, if dark, take on magic. Things that put me off a little — the very underdeveloped but crucial romance, the ending (

HOW could she tell he was scared while wearing a blindfold when he couldn’t make any sort of noise?? WHat kinda explanation is that???

) and that things sometimes got too simplistic, which is however understandable due to the target audience. Then again some scenes were a bit too much for children, like that

. That chapter messed me up.
Also the implications of

Juro being actually a secret mastermind and knowingly causing Krabat to get brutally physically abused as a punishment from their Master

harry potter, aber du lernst magie nicht an einem elite-internat, sondern in einem ranzigen ausbildungsbetrieb in der oberlausitz. (ohne krankenversicherung, urlaubstage oder... lohn)

es gibt auch keinen patronus, aber dafür verwandelt dich dein chef hin und wieder in ein tier seiner wahl. na ja, ist ja auch ganz schön!

I love this book to bits but I read the German original and don't know how good the translation is. Reading it again as an adult was so much better than the first time back when I was 8. It made the whole experience more interesting.
