the first one is fine, if a bit disorienting, and i like the second very much, but the third is the best, no question.
Not much to say on this one. To be honest I don't remember the details all that well, but I thoroughly enjoyed each little snippet into Lord John's life. I remember being a little stymied at the abrupt ending of "Lord John and the Hellfire Club," although that may be because I'm used to Gabaldon's stories being so very much longer and more detailed. I love the character of Stephan von Namtzen, a character we get to spend a considerable amount of time with in "Lord John and the Succubus." I think my favorite of the three was definitely "Lord John and the Haunted Soldier," probably because I greatly loved [b:Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade|41502|Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade (Lord John Grey, #2)|Diana Gabaldon|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1421850685s/41502.jpg|1612336], and this last short story serves as something of an addendum to that novel. In all, it's definitely worth a read if you enjoyed the other Lord John novels. To make things easier on yourself, you might just read the novels themselves first, even though chronologically the three short stories in this collection fit in between the novels. They certainly add to your time with Lord John, but you won't be confused if you skip them.

A collection of three short stories featuring Lord John Grey, this book was... okay. Something to read to pass the time, although I have to admit that I was quite disappointed in it. The story-lines unfortunately seemed to have had relevant bits hacked out in order to shorten them.

This is a collection of short stories that take place either before or after "Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade." Great stories, with the second novella, "Lord John and the Succubus", the only with a vague supernatural feeling to the tale. Witty and well-written.
