I absolutely LOVED this book. I like the concept and have a problem putting them down! I can't wait for the new one. The ending of this one was shocking and a bit confusing. Too bad Tobias isn't real. ;-)

So much fun to read - a heart-pounding, suspenseful sequel. At times, the quarreling between Tobias and Tris became off-putting, but the fast paced plot made up for it and kept me turning pages!

Excellent continuation of story. A lot to keep track of until next book. Tris sided with Marcus, Tobias' dad, in hopes of saving the truth- a file. Evelyne, Tobias' mother, is crazy. She managed to unite the Factionless and Divergent to attack and break down the other remaining factions. The loyal Dauntless sided with her until the end when they realized she had taken all the weapons. She wants to end factions and run everything herself. Amity is now enslaved and must provide food for all with no protection, as punishment for staying out of fray.

In the end, Jeannine is killed, and Tris is viewed as a traitor for siding with Marcus. Caleb, her brother, had helped Jeannine, even allowing Tris to be tortured. Hard to forgive. Tobias manages to play the file Jeannine had been protecting and everyone saw it on the screens in the lobby. Apparently, many people were pulled out of normal society because we had allowed our race to become so degraded by violence and cruelty. They isolated themselves and tried to get people to move past a "one track mind", hence- divergent, able to see many ways and points of view. The woman on the screen telling everyone what has happened/why they live the way they live, is Tris' mom before she became one of the factions. Everyone who initially participated in the experiment had their memories of life "before" erased so they could be honest participants in this last attempt to save civilization. The book ends there.

Tobias does tell Tris he knows her and understands why she sided with Marcus. They are good.

I love dystopian fiction. It's powerful because all of it could be.

I cannot wait to see what the third book has in store! I absolutely love these characters. I am also trying to decide which faction I would be apart of.... ?? :)

I couldn't put this down. It was a book that was heart-racing the entire time from page one to the end. It picked up right where Divergent left off, which made it a bit confusing for me since I had't read Divergent recently. My biggest complaint was that it ended on such a huge cliffhanger and now I have to wait quite awhile before I get a satisfying conclusion to this well told story.

Wow...the fourth star was earned in the last third of the book, otherwise it would have been another three star. The first third was difficult for me to get into but it started to pick up in the second third and by the last third I couldn't put it down. Wish it wouldn't have taken so long to get into, but that may be from the fact that it really is a very political book and I am coming off of a very long election season and am really tired of all that. This book should be read by most anyone as an example of what is going to happen to our society if we don't learn to get along. We are such a divided country that I could see how something like this could be plausible. The cliffhanger at the end is steep and I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next installment. This book definitely give you a lot to think about... How far are you willing to go to defend your beliefs, would you give up everyone you know or kill someone who happens see the world in a different light or chooses to live a different life than you? Would you become so entrenched in your own doctrine that you are unable to have compassion or empathy for those who are different from yourself? Really an excellent story that really makes you think. It is perfect for the YA age group and I hope it makes them take a look at how they treat others. At the end of this book I was just left a little numb, which is common for dystopian stories, they aren't happy-go-lucky tales, but...wow...they have such power to make you examine the world you live in.
