This book. THIS SERIES. I am in love. [b:Insurgent|11735983|Insurgent (Divergent, #2)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1325667729s/11735983.jpg|15524542] is such a page turner and I could NOT put it down - even though this is the 3rd time I'm reading it!
The characters in this book are some of the best written characters I have ever read. Honestly, I'm not a massive fan of Tris and I definitely disagree with some of her actions and decisions in this book, but as a character, I cannot fault her. Her personal development throughout this book is so well-written and she is always true to her character. So, while I can't really connect with her on a personal level, as a main character, she is outstanding.
The other characters are just amazing too. Even the most minor characters have been given SO MUCH depth and personality. I LOVE the dynamic of the dauntless group - the banter is top class. I actually laughed out loud several times reading their conversations because.. how can you not?
I will warn you though, these books are addictive. The plot is so fast paced, there's always something exciting happening - you will stay up reading until 3am guaranteed. Starting off exactly where [b:Divergent|13335037|Divergent (Divergent, #1)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1328559506s/13335037.jpg|13155899] left off, the plot of [b:Insurgent|11735983|Insurgent (Divergent, #2)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1325667729s/11735983.jpg|15524542] never falters - there are so many twists and turns and surprises to keep you gripped.
I love the world that Veronica Roth has built in this series. I am absolutely fascinated by the faction system and how they function, and [b:Insurgent|11735983|Insurgent (Divergent, #2)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1325667729s/11735983.jpg|15524542] satisfied my curiosity with deeper insights into both Amity and Candor. I also really enjoyed the inclusion of an Amity religious ceremony. Most YA books completely avoid religion, and I thought this small inclusion was really interesting.
This book is a fantastic continuation of the [b:Divergent|13335037|Divergent (Divergent, #1)|Veronica Roth|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1328559506s/13335037.jpg|13155899] series. I would highly recommend this book and series to all YA reader.

“Got that gun?” Peter says to Tobias. “No,” says Tobias, “I figured I would shoot the bullets out of my nostrils, so I left it upstairs.”
“Lynn, she saved half our faction from this stuff," says Marlene, tapping the bandage on her arm from where the Dauntless traitors shot her. "Well, half of half of our faction."
"In some circles they call that a quarter, Mar," Lynn says.”

The book reads differently from Divergent. You could tell who the reading audience was ment for in Divergent where here Roth switches her writing style for a silty order audience but not by much. Insurgent just like Divergent was a quick and easy read but not as much entertaining as the first. I got a little tiring with the lack of communication between some of the characters and a lack of understanding. The only character interaction that made any sense behavior wise was between Tris and Christina when the truth is admited. The others completely forgot all the emotional trauma that Tris went through in the first book that everyone seems to ignore when they question her behavior.
Wow. what a phenomenal ending! The entire book was fast paced and captivating but the ending was incredible. I can't wait to read the next instalment.

I thought this is a good next book after the first book. I found it to be a bit slower and not as interesting all the way through. I liked knowing more about the different characters and how they played a role in what was happening.
