I should have learned my lesson after I finished reading [b:Catching Fire|6148028|Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)|Suzanne Collins|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1268805322s/6148028.jpg|6171458] and had to wait for [b:Mockingjay|7260188|Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)|Suzanne Collins|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1294615552s/7260188.jpg|8812783] for about two months. Now I have to wait a whole year!(well, kinda). I don't know if I can wait that long. :(

Jeez...I got a bad copy of a paperback of Divergent, which included a sneak peek of this book. But guess what? For some strange reason, the first page of the sneak peek was painted over with black. ARGH. So I had to start on the second page. I still got the general gist of it. But still...ugh.

I can't wait until this comes out. I just finished re-reading Divergent (I didn't realize I loved it so much [well, lets face it, FOUR-not Tobias-]). Now I am...well let's just say I am really anxious to get this book.

I'm going to get on my library's website right now and put it on hold. That is, if they let me (I have horrible fines).

Hey, now. This is...this book....this is ....

Hold on.

Okay. I already used the word 'epic' to describe [b:Legend|9275658|Legend (Legend, #1)|Marie Lu|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1333909141s/9275658.jpg|14157512]. So I have to think of another word.

But there may not be another word to describe it.

I would first like to say that Roth is one of the best dystopia writers I've ever read. Seriously. The way she uses words is just amazing. I don't even know why but she manages to make Tris believable while still squeezing in useful SAT words.

But maybe I'm a but biased for a fellow Chicagoan.

Anyhoo...

It took me awhile to read this. About two months, I guess. I suppose this is because I bought the book and thus was in no real rush to finish it (no library fees!) But don't get me wrong, I was excite about it and when I did read, it was in long spurts and it was difficult to turn my eyes away.

I'll try to simplify the plot since it is rather muddled and long: Beatrice is still getting over the events that occurred in [b:Divergent|8306857|Divergent (Divergent, #1)|Veronica Roth|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327873996s/8306857.jpg|13155899]
Spoilerwhich involved her having to kill her friend, Will, the death of her parents and the murder of almost all of Abnegation
. Beatrice's former way of life is destroyed, with only the groups of Amity (the peaceful) the Candor (the honest) and the Erudite (the intelligent?) still composed. Tobias -aka Four- and Tris quickly realize that their enemy is Jeanine, the leader of the Erudite. The Erudite, in case you don't know, were responsible for putting the Dauntless under...mind control and consequently killing the Abnegation. The only thing Tris and the others don't understand is WHY Jeanine did this in the first place. And through a series of risks, belligerence, espionage (I just like that word) and fatalities, they fight to find the answer.

That's about as simplified as I can make the summary. It really is a long, complicated book which requires a non-distracted mind. Perhaps that's why it took me so long to read it.

Again, I loved the writing, perhaps even more than I loved the writing in [b:Divergent|8306857|Divergent (Divergent, #1)|Veronica Roth|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327873996s/8306857.jpg|13155899]. I liked Tris, and of course Four (not Tobias).
SpoilerI was kind of sad about so many people dying, like Fernando, Lynn, Marlene and even Eric (I think he was killed off a little too early. But I did enjoy the little switches in loyalty like Peter and Caleb. I thought that was very interesting.

I'll probably end up giving this book 5 ***** at a later date but I give it only four, just because it took so long to read. I guess that's my own fault, but whatever.

Oh, and may I just say that I loved the ending? Seriously. The next book is sure to be um...well, epic, I suppose. I guess I'll have to use that word again.

Damn, its not often that a 2nd book in a trilogy is stronger than the first, but in this case it totally was. It was gooood. So good, that I read this 525 page book in one day. :) and the ending has you captivated - that last book is gonna be something!

I enjoyed how this book brings you into the faction war while also allowing you to perspectively see both sides as well as the sides we may not think of. I also think it was well written and the problems that arose were realistic.

The 2nd book in the Divergent series. I think I enjoyed it more than the first! This was much darker, emotional and full of danger than the first book. The stakes are higher, with much more world-building, answers and character development.
