This was available via the SFF Audio Podcast 105. This was an enjoyable classic - the ultimate hunt with human prey. It has been copied numerous time since this was released by numerous SciFi shows. Apart from that, there was very little SciFi in the story.
I love this short story. I was talking to a friend about it and had to re-read it.

This was a really good story and that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I may or may not have people I would like to hunt for sport.

The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell is a riveting and timeless short story that pits moral quandaries against captivating storytelling and some fascinating characterization to boot. Instantly drawing in the reader with its protagonist, the entire premise is set up quickly, as needed for a short story of under 50 pages. However, it doesn't discount the importance of creating complex characters, building real flawed people rather than one-dimensional caricatures, particularly with Sanger Rainsford and his nemesis General Zaroff. This is an engaging, intense and surprisingly quick read that is better than all of its movie adaptations (and there have been a few).
TL;DR: A thrilling narrative through and through that is a must-read for any fans of the thriller genre or classic short stories.

This classic is a super short read but, but one you should not miss out on. The story is not hard to follow and the competition between General Zaroff and Rainsford makes a compelling short story with some depth.
"They understand one thing--fear. The fear of pain and the fear of death."
I feel like I'm kind of cheating by including a short story in my read collection, but a friend recommended this to me so here it is I suppose.
For being a short story, Connell packs a lot of action. Mr. Rainsford finds himself washed-up on an island, but of course, not just any island, but rather Ship Trap Island. Here he meets the cunning (and also high-key mentally unstable) General Zaroff, who provides so many clues about the truth of his hobby, hunting, that Rainsford takes a criminal amount of time to understand. It is a gripping story that I surprisingly enjoyed quite a bit.
