Taught this to a bevy of freshmen a couple of years ago. Had they the ability to actually read at this story's level, they may have liked it. Otherwise, too subtle.

before hunger games and squid game was this game.

in honors english 1, i learned that this story is (stylistically) written to "entertain" and it's a great shame for me to admit that these stories do just that.

the reason/instinct, hunter/hunted, rich/poor dynamics are the ones that are most often imitated, but i'm so fascinated by the idea of ennui/boredom. what does it mean for us that in our boredom we will do a whole variety of wild things— like murder or reading stories about murders.

Cool story.

Is it weird that General Zarodd gave me Ramsey Bolton vibes? Anyone? No? Guess it's just me.
I loved this short story, my only caveat is that it was too predictable!
