Fascinating! There is a bit of speculative fiction where the author imagines a time three years from now in which the science discussed in the rest of the book has successfully brought back woolly mammoths, but other than that it is a factual run down of the possibilities, what reintroduction of mammoths would mean to the tundra ecosystem (and the world), and a history of how we got to this point in DNA manipulation in the first place. I found the part about how herbivores effect the permafrost temp and general tundra ecosystem particularly interesting. Feels similar to the effect beavers have on the landscape.
