I’m so glad I continued with this series! I didn’t love Shiver, but I decided to give book two a chance and it’s worlds better than the first. The characters are more fleshed out, the story is much more compelling, I couldn’t put it down.
Liked this one better than the first one, but still not really into this entire werewolf business. And the cheesy romance is cute, but sometimes both Grace and Sam do not think anything through at all. And I really do not get Grace's parents, but okay. Maybe I have finally turned too old for this kind of story... 2,5 Stars
i really liked Shiver. so when i see linger, i can hardly contain my excitement. then i see the green letters and i have a spaz attack. Then i start reading...now linger is on my 'not finished' book shelf.
I really enjoyed “Shiver” and was keen on reading the rest of the series after seeing that it was a part of a trilogy, but there was one thing that held me back from giving the book five stars, and it’s a problem that felt more present in “Linger”: it was the fact that the story had parts where not much was happening. Although I enjoy romance, in romance books like “Shiver”, the love story can bore me, and, with not much else happening, I get bored with the story.
That was my biggest issue, really, because everything else about the story I enjoyed. Grace and Sam’s relationship is really cute—even though I felt like they fell in love fast in the previous book, they really do have chemistry. They’re pretty sweet together.
I enjoy Isabel’s character as well. I love how she went through character development; in the first book, she seemed really spiteful, but, later on, she showed her softer side, and I started liking her sarcastic cynicism-hides-my-true-pain self. It made her feel more three-dimensional and well-rounded than I thought she had been previously, and I always love that!
At first, I thought that I wasn’t going to like the addition of Cole, but I didn’t mind him so much. In fact, I learned to like him. I loved how he seemed like such a jerk at first but he really has done some horrible things in his past that makes him feel like a horrible person and that he uses his wolf side as an escape from his emotional hell. Like Isabel, he’s just a person who’s been through so much pain and needs healing.
Overall, I thought that “Linger” was pretty good, but not as good as I would have liked it. Perhaps with “Shiver” I didn’t mind not as much happening as much because it was the first book in the series and I was just getting to know the characters, but by Linger I was hoping that it wouldn’t happen as much. In any case, though, it was still a good book, and I cared about the characters—which always makes a story readable.

Sam has stopped shifting into a wolf and now him and Grace can finally be together without an expiration date. Sam is trying to figure out what it means to be human full time while managing the newer wolves who have started shifting back, in particular Cole. Cole wants nothing more to be a wolf and forget himself, that's what Beck promised him when he bit him something Sam is still struggling with. But his newness to being a werewolf grants a shorter time as a wolf, unlike the older wolves who have stopped shifting. A few of the old wolves are found dead in the woods with blood on their snout and a weird almond smell. Not shortly after Sam notices the same smell on Grace and her worsening condition gives Sam cause for alarm. Now its Grace who's the one with the expiration date, and Sam and Cole must work together to figure out how to save her.
This one doesn't hit me the same way Shiver does, but the ending does. Cole gets on my nerves a little bit mostly because he doesn't try to understand the position Sam has been in. He gets better as the book goes on and I do like him in Forever and Sinner. This book does a great job progressing the story line of the Wolves. You can't read this book on it's own, it has to be read as the sequel to Shiver. (On a side-note I'm loving re-reading this series because there is so much I've forgotten.)

Ok, after being extremely disappointed in "Shiver"; I expected even less from "Linger". In many ways I was vindicated, I can still barely stand the Grace/Sam story, or their characters and I find much of the writing to be pedantic. However, the increase of Isabelle and the addition of Cole as characters was enjoyable. I love Isabelle. The story had much more of a cliff-hanger at the end, so now I will continue to book 3, albeit nervously. I do think the switch of behavior for Grace's parents was a bit hard to take but thought it served more to sever her relationship with them than to serve as drama for her love story. I am amazed at the ridiculous ability of some characters, scientific genius AND rock star? But, I thought the story had more drive and excitement this time around. I am still not a "fan" but not as much of a hater either.
El final es lo mejor del libro pero... es un 3.6 para mí, entre medias lo he sentido un poco lento con momentos buenos si claro pero lento en su mayoría
