Another excellent book from Louise Penny.  Compelling story, richly drawn characters — including new aspects of some we’ve loved for years. And, as always, a meditation on the connections that draw people together.

This is the first book of hers I have read.  I found it difficult to keep track of all the characters and could never really remember who was who and involved in what. Maybe if I had read others it would have been easier.  In the end, it somewhat came together. I will try an earlier novel.

The Inspector Gamache series has lost its way. Gone is the charm of the setting of Three Pines, and its beloved characters. In exchange, the plots have become ridiculous with Gamache in the role of super-hero. So disappointing. I gave this book 3 stars on GoodReads out of loyalty to the author.
