Casually racist, not-so-casually misogynistic, a story built on the bones of harmful stereotypes.

Insufferable characters, making obstinate one- note life choices. And just about everyone is worse off in the end.

Not my jam.

I enjoyed this book a lot and loved how it makes you connect with the characters. Overall, all those pages were worth the read. I will most likely be reading the rest of the series.

In one episode of The Office, Michael Scott reveals that Holly has read this book three times. I felt so happy the first time I watched that scene as I had already read this book, and I sympathized with Holly because this is such an amazing novel.

It's so long but it never feels boring, and the entire adventure is filled with amazing moments that keep you engaged.

But what makes this book amazing is its characters. They all have wonderful personalities, and it was very interesting to see how two men so different from each other like Gus and Call had such a strong bond that made their friendship unique. Two old men who had been legendary Texas Rangers decide to take on a last great adventure, and it ends up being the most important and defining of their lives.

And even at their age they still had dreams, they still longed for old and lost loves, past mistakes, and redemption.

The closing line of the book is probably the best I've ever read.
