Alright, so this book is boring. However, it’s simply something I wouldn’t pick up for myself to enjoy in my free time. That doesn’t make the book not good.
I had to go back and forth between whether this was a 3 or 4, but in reality I just didn’t think it was “good” enough to be categorized as such on my own Goodreads and in my arsenal of books read.
It reminded me a lot of nanny McPhee, but the ending of this one is a cop out and extra fantastical. There wasn’t any reason the mother went back to the father, not really at least without speculation. This book really tells rather than shows, and that works when there is some sort of conflict to push it forward.
There lacks any real conflict apart from Jane’s grandmother that she just hates. Granted, it’s very valid, but also boring at the same time.
It would be better for children, but probably not for someone of my tastes. So is getting a mid rating.

No one can portray the importance of place and home like L M Montgomery. This book is great for everyone who knows that houses have souls and that places are created of both nature and culture.

This is a super cute summery book that I just flew through, reading it any chance I got, all about Jane Stuart growing into herself on gorgeous Prince Edward Island, and in the background is the most insane drama-filled divorce since Nick Parker and Elizabeth James split custody of twins.
