I LOVE L.M. Montgomery's books and this one was no different in that respect. Great characters and character development going on.

Excellent. Time to revisit Montgomery's body of work and read the other not-Anne books. They seem to be just as lovely and rewarding to read.

I love the magic to L.M. Montgomery's writing. The story is descriptively written and is about Jane Victoria Stuart who lives with her mother and domineering grandmother in Toronto. She was told her father was dead, but is re-united with her father when he writes demanding Jane join him in Prince Edward Island for the summer. This is a story about coming of age, jealousies and friendships.

I listened to this story because I love The Blue Castle so much. It's a sweet story, a little trite at the end, but doesn't hurt my enjoyment of it.

Lovely, as is everything by L.M. Montgomery.

2nd read through:
This book starts slowly, but builds beautifully and ends in impossible perfection. Jane is improbably good at everything she sets her mind to, buy she's so sweet and sincere, she's easy to love anyways.

Absolutely lovely. I mostly read LM Montgomery for her P.E. Island descriptions, and oh boy she delivers. The way she describes these quaint little places is so vivid, she gives her everything to those descriptions. Every single one is full of love and whimsy and magic.
But besides the descriptions, the book also has a lot of simple truths that, when put bluntly, make you kind of gasp because you've never really thought on it too much before, or articulated them in your head, and now those little things are put into words.
The contempt that Jane's grandmother has for her is masterfully crafted and described as well.
The book is very quotable, the prose is down to earth, and the everyday life, despite being mostly what one might go through in a village, is very magical. LM Montgomery is my cottagecore queen truly
