This was really enjoyable. The setting and the author's insistence on using antiquated sentence structure in all the dialog didn't get in the way of a good story. It's a very funny book that has at its heart an exploration of race and colonialism. Both protagonists were well realized, even if Prunella gets a little cartoony by the end.

A smart, magically inclined young woman does whatever she wants based solely on vibes and intuition. It was enjoyable though there was a bit of a Mary Sue situation and a few convenient deus ex machinas. I enjoyed the cloud flying and wished the dragon had more page time. The world was fun and interesting. I'll be reading the second one.

I enjoyed this book so much not only because it’s amazing and it’s real and flashes out the character and it’s fun yet conflicting. It is just beautiful. I recommend anyone of everyone to go Now, please

Almost great

Good story, but Prunella was a deeply infuriating Mary Sue. Even just one little failuee somewhere along the way would have helped.
