This is a review for the first season, which comprises 4 volumes. I absolutely loved this manga, it made me laugh so much! Katarina Cleiss is the snobby, arrogant and selfish daughter of a duke, until she hits herself in her head and she remembers that in another life, she was a teenager in modern Japan, and really loved playing otome (dating simulation) videogames. I've never played that type of game, but it sounds like they are more like visual novels with the player making key decisions. As she starts analyzing her surroundings, she realizes that she now is the villainess of the last game she played and all endings led to either her death and exile. So now Katarina must use her knowledge from her previous life to try to avoid her certain doom.

While Katarina is completely absorbed in her master plan for avoiding doom (which involves farming), she is completely oblivious to the interest guys seem to take on her. I loved Katarina - she is kind, acts with integrity, and is determined to change her destiny. Her sunny personality makes this a very enjoyable read, and her cluelessness leads to a lot of funny situations.

I'm very much looking forward to season 2.

Summary:

Catarina Claes is the spoiled daughter of a duke and the primary antagonist in a dating sim, Fortune Lover. Or rather, that's how the story is supposed to go. That was before a high school girl woke up in her body and made it her life goal to avoid all the horrible fates in store for this villainess.

She's been working diligently to avoid those fates, but the stakes keep rising as time goes on. Now that she's at her magic school, she's finally about to face the game's primary character. In other words, one mistake can easily lead to her doom.

My Review:

Ohhh boy, I forgot how much fun this series is! As the second installment in the series, My Next Life as a Villainess Vol. 2 is a blast to read. We've met most of the love interests at this point – with a few notable exceptions. Maybe I shouldn't be calling them love interests since Catarina is too oblivious.

Anyway, moving on. This volume introduces one of my favorite characters, Maria. She also happens to be the player character from the game, sooo....you can see how that's just a touch worrying for Catarina.

Once again, I freaking love how goofy and oblivious Catarina is. More than that, I adore how everyone is aware of her obliviousness and even comments on it (not that Catarina is aware of this, naturally). It kills me.

My Next Life as a Villainess is perfect if you're looking for a light and funny read, especially if you like Isekai and reverse harems.

Highlights:
Isekai
Strong Humor
Clueless Lead
Dating Sim Game
Reverse Harem

Very funny! Katerina is very clever, and her solution to being in the body of a villainess is both obvious and clever - don't be evil, and have a backup plan. Her relationships with everyone are very fun, and the sheer exhaustion her parents and maids have with her antics is hilarious.

This was a very enjoyable first volume. This particular volume covers Katarina’s childhood and her trying to make friends and stop all possible chances of these people becoming her rival/enemy.
There wasn’t any high stakes or anything crazy happening, it has a much more slice of life/comedy vibe and it was just nice to read. I’m excited to see where the story goes.

I’ve had this series on my shelf for a while now — after watching the anime and falling in love! — and yuppp, the manga is just as good as the show ❤️

This Volume Is Much Thicker Than The Other Two I Currently Have, Which I Really Like, Mainly Because Its Full Of All The Background & Set Up For The Main Crux Of The Story, Its All Built Really Nicely!
There Is So Much To Like About This Series & Volume, The Slow Introduction Of The Characters That Will Be The Main Core Of The Seires Was Great & Showing How They Will Interact With Katarina Perfect!
The Characters Are All Great & Add Something To The Series In There Own Right, Katarina Is Amazing She Has That Dense Personality That Fits Perfectly With How The Story Seems To Be Going & The Little Strategy Meeting In Her Head Are Rather Funny!
