“I’m meant to be dead, pinned, always the same, always beautiful.”

Is funny how I also felt manipulated by Frederick, in the way I -almost- believed him when he said he was going to finally let her go, but as Miranda I was wrong.
God this is story is awful, is scary, extremely upsetting and brilliant, i love the pace and how is written, I was so immersed that i binge read it.
I was amazed by the way this two characters change so fast and grow in completely different ways , how Miranda becomes more self conscious, how much she grows but her morals stay the same, I loved her, also I identify myself with her a lot, how both of us get easily influenced but we try to mold those new ideas into what we believe in, idk how to explain it ♡
And on the other side is Ferdinand/Caliban (Frederick the big asshole), how he tries so hard and how he starts to spiral when he realizes that things aren’t going his way until he becomes more cynic, more sadist and selfish, is scary how he finally embraces the true nature of a collector.
I ended up with tons of notes bc there are a lot of things that shocked me and some others that made me really sad. What a book. It was a weird but amazing experience.

Also this part gave shivers

“Once I let myself dream I hit her across the face as I saw it done once by a chap in a telly play. Perhaps that was when it all started.”

Made my skin crawl! Loved this, a lot of modern psycho thrillers can take a note from Fowles old timey writing... True talent. Loved the double perspective also of captor va captured
