I really loved the class commentary, especially in the context of postwar Britain. I did struggle with some parts of the book, but it was 100% worth it in the way it set up for the last bit of the story.

I may have enjoyed this book more if my expectations were set correctly. I would not describe this as a horror book. There was no tension or suspense as the story unfolds and it ends in what I consider a predictable manner. While it was a fine read it will not be a book I recommend.
