Wohlmöglich mein neuer lieblingsband von der Reihe.

In this book Perrin finally gets reunited with Faile, but has to go to great lengths to do so. Elayne finally makes some headway in getting support for the Lion Throne and is determined to figure out who is in the Black Ajah at the palace.

Egwene’s storyline is one of the more interesting ones however. She is in the White Tower as a novice and is trying to assert herself as the “real” Amyrlin. Of course, this is quite difficult, but she is at least making progress by being able to receive “lessons” from some of the Aes Sedai with the ability to bring some change, and maybe her conversations are starting to have some effect.

Rand is one of the main storylines in this book, which is kind of nice but also kind of uncomfortable at times. He keeps thinking that being hard is the same as being strong, to the point of not grieving over a serious injury that would leave most people stunned. At least there are still some people left that care about him as a person and not just the Dragon Reborn! If only Lews Therin would stop muttering in Rand’s head.

A fantastic breath of fresh air as you get to read the climax and falling action into the resolution after the slog of a rising action in the previous book. Mat has great moments throughout, Rands madness is hitting its peak and is great to read, Egwene gets to show off her skills in glorious fashion, the Perrin plot hits a peak with the battle of Malden, and the end of the book is great with Rand and the Seanchan confronting one another. Great final book completely written by Robert Jordan.

And thus marks the point at which I've previously read up to (although, truth be told, I didn't actually remember anything from books 10 and 11!).

This book finally resolves a number of situations that had been left open for far too long from earlier books, which was nice, but I could hope that things get a move on in the next book!

Once again Jordan intricately weaves numerous stories into one connecting larger story, with plenty of cliffhangers and unresolved situations that all lead toward the Last Battle. It’s still a little tricky to remember all the characters, but the writing is so well done.

FREAKING FINALLY ★★★★★ Stars

After 3 books that went basically nowhere with miniscule plot development FINALLY and I mean FINALLY the story took off and things HAPPENED

It’s like Jordan had a check list of things to tick off and he just went down the list….

✔ - Perrin looking for Faile and getting his woman back

✔ - Egwene actually doing something useful. Sure she had to get captured and put in the white tower to do it but finally her story arc is way more interesting.

✔ - Nynaeve and Lan finally getting a little relationship fleshing out and one of my favorite moments of the series. Way to go all Aes Sedea on your man Nynaeve. This is probably the only time I will approve of such a move.

✔ - Avienda cutting strings from Elayne. Maybe it will be her turn with Rand again soon.

✔ - Rand outing another of the Forsaken. The price might be a little heavy but he just keeps on swimming. Actually I love him and Min together, she seems to get him better than anyone else and I love how in her own way she is just as strong or actually stronger than him.
Spoilerdo we need those other women at all….I think not. Actually I think Avienda and Elayne should just do their own thing they don’t seem to need Rand at all

✔ - Mat and Tuon playing courting games that seem more like battle strategy I LOVE THEM SO MUCH TOGETHER

✔ - Thom finally telling us what is in that letter that Moraince left for him how many books ago. Well we get to read it AND I’m so excited about where that is going to lead our crew.

✔ - The Elayne the Daughter Heir finally finding her place. Whether it is on the Lion throne or not you will just have to read to see. Her arc is actually my least favorite maybe because so much time is spent on the pregnancy and sometimes she is so smart and THEN she does that very stupid thing towards the end that just leads me to believe she isn’t even close to ready to be a Queen.

✔ - Birgetta being awesome as always. Why would we need Galad or Gawyn again to protect Elayne??? I just don’t know. I’m pretty sure I know who Gaidal Cain is reincarnated as *crosses fingers* that is my favorite deviant in training

And Much Much more…. A few characters get the come-uppances that they deserve and it is so gratifying.

Was it worth going through three pretty slow books to get to some awesome? The jury is still out. For me yeah probably since Sanderson is finishing out this series and I read ~200 books a year so no biggy. But for someone else who doesn’t get to read so much and has to pick and choose probably not unless you are into extreme worldbuilding.

Very excited to start the into the end with my favorite Epic Fantasy Writer the fantastic Brandon Sanderson.

Knife of Dreams was certainly much better than Crossroads of Twilight. Especially in the latter half of the story. As with most of my experience with WoT books, Jordan’s setup can feel like a slog at time but boy does he make the pay offs worth it. Elaine’s storyline did not interest me as much as I initially thought it would and I actually found myself engaged with one of my more least favorite characters, Mat. Mainly due to his blossoming romance with Tuane. (I hope I spelled that right. Audiobook version this time around lol) So yeah, a lot of great payoffs and this feels like the beginning of the end. I can see the conclusion of the 14th book on the horizon.
