" After all, is not a real Hell better than a manufactured heaven? "
Wow... Just wow... I randomly found this book on a list, and didn't have many expectations going in, but I think this may be one of my favorite books ever. Some of the phrases are some of the most beautiful sentences I've ever read.
Edit: Read 3 times so far and it just keeps getting better
Edit 2: just read it the 4th time and i love it just as much, maybe more

How can I start? This book made me feel a lot. It made me happy, sad, angry and a lot more. Maurice is not a good man sometimes. This book being written in the 1913-1914 and the mentality that they had in that time period made me want to kill him sometimes, but that's to be expected. The love that the author portrays in this book is fenomenal, is real, is everything. I loved it!
I started reading this with only one fact known - E. M. Forster wanted to write a gay love story with a happy ending. Maurice is so much more than that. I have cried for so many reasons, while reading this book. Sympathy, joy, and absolute warmth of how beautiful the writing is. This novel is tender in ways that cannot fail to move you, no matter who you are. There are moments of great sadness and unfairness within the book, but such a promise of love and life. I feel so touched and moved by this novel and can not wait to reread it.
