Shay and Noah had such a cute relationship. I know this is always what happens with fake dating - they start developing feelings but talks themselves out of thinking the other person does too. And I love fake dating!!! But this got on my nerves. It was obvious from the start that Noah was in love with Shay. Despite his grumpiness and scowls, girl he offered marriage and then literally started acting like your husband. And when yall finally started hooking up, you still didn't think he was all in?!?!

Shay had such a good character arc. She was really broke down by the break-up, and by the end she saw what a POS the ex-fiance was. I REALLY REALLY wish Noah would've punched him, especially after putting hands on Shay.

I feel like we could've learned more abut Noah. All we hear about his past is that he was quiet and wanted to get out of the town. I think we learned more about his sister than him. I wish we had a glimpse into their friendship earlier, instead of near the end with the letters. We got an idea of who Shay was as a teen, but he was sorely missing and it would've gave Noah a bit more depth.

Noah was a little freak so I quite enjoyed the spice 3/5🌶

An easy read with minor drama for a romance book. Some of the dialogue was kind of corny imo but I liked the characters and wanted to see where they ended up, finished this book specifically for Genie.

aw :,) noah and shay had a beautiful childhood best friends to lovers mixed with marriage of convenience and small town romance <3 noah was so grumpy but damn if he didn’t love shay to the ends of the earth. his acts of service and ways to show his affection were precious! shay really was so relatable. i felt for her with what she went through. she deserves a happy relationship. her friend group were so fun and supportive!! gennie was a HOOT loved her! her cursing was so funny but she also had so much love to give after all she had been through at a young age. i adore the little happy family noah, shay and gennie became :)

i loved kate’s use of portraying women in prison, the hardship of having a parent in prison and advocating for more books in women’s prisons!!!

I don’t even know where to start! Grandma Lollie had something up her sleeve this entire time. Let me just say the end had me bawling like a baby when Noah showed shay the proof of love and I’m glad she finally got it through her thick skull that he has always loved her. Noah is such a grump but loves so deeply for the ones he cares for! I was literally screaming as I was reading when shay met up with her ex and the way Noah just swept in and told him off. Thank you Noah for telling the asshole off.
Shay recused Noah after he was used to always rescuing the ENTIRE town of Friendship and his family. He had someone show up for him and Geenie!
Geenie stole my heart from the beginning of the book, little girl who is stubborn and had experienced trauma at a young age. Her characteristics reminded me a lot of myself. The tapioca pudding part is by far one of my favorites! They created a little family on accident and it turned out to be one the best family’s ever.
-slow burn for sure but an exciting slow burn that was never boring and kept the pages turning.
- spicyyyy all the way

This book made me feel so single. However, I felt it could have been at least 100 pages shorter and after a while Shay’s refusal to accept Noah’s feelings for her got old. I also felt as though the ending was rushed.

All in all, it was a very cute story and I’m surprised to say that my favourite part of the whole thing was the kid. Almost everything Gennie said, had me laughing out loud. This book would not be so highly rated if not for her.
