I enjoyed the majority of the book. It's definitely dark and angsty, but it was the right, (almost) tolerable amount. I'm glad the SA wasnt graphically depicted. I also liked the chemistry and relationship between Stevie and the guys. Sure, DC being Atlas was predictable, but the development of the relationship was pleasant to read. The ending was weird though. I felt that it was rushed because Melanie was nice all of a sudden and Jessie came out of nowhere. Perhaps the author was trying to do a major plot twist, but I don't think it worked with a book of this length. Stevie working at the Hellhound Tavern wasn't that fleshed out so there was little interaction with Jessie. Seemed very out of the blue and forced having Jessie as the antagonist.

I just didn't feel a connection with any of the characters in this book. The author has a tendency to tell instead of show and the characters feel flat  The plot is basically identical to Den of Vipers but written in a less engaging way with less entertaining characters.
