The characters and drawings seem held back in all but the climactic scenes. There were some cool moments, but 90% of the time the setting is so bland it’s hard to get invested leading up to them. I was also expecting a more character focused story from the premise, but the plot gets more interesting in this volume so it balances out a bit.
