Into 2018 with a sappy romance, out of 2018 with a sappy romance! I wouldn't have it any other way.

When I (accidentally) read Not Yet a little while ago, I really happened upon something really sweet and special. Ward's writing really drew me in and enveloped me in the same warmth and love her characters were experiencing and it was an experience I really enjoyed. So, when I found out there was a second book, I couldn't help but make sure it because one of my rainy day books, something to get out when I needed it.

And boy, did I need this! I've read tons of romances this year and, now that I'm at the end of that year, there are so many of those romances that all bleed together and seem the exact same. So, when something like this comes along, it's really special.

2018 has been an awesome year in reading for me and I'm really excited to see what 2019 has in store for my literary world.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review***
This is the second book in the Not Yet series and it is much better than the first book. I like these characters better and it seems like it is more realistic than the first book in the series.
Dean is this cocky, swoon-worthy college guy who has his choice of ladies but he chooses the one who works her ass off to get where she is, all while trying to support her son. These two were great together and the chemistry between the two is amazing!
If you have not read this book in the series, I suggest you go grab your copy as this was a good, quick, and easy read.

When the QB of your Big Ten, undefeated football team pays attention to you, are you supposed to:
a. fall at his feet and beg for his time
b. grind on his lap and make his day
c. squeal with uncontrolled desire and stare at him with your mouth on the floor
d. all of the above

I think that Grace must have missed this question on the final. Not only did she do NONE of the above, but she wouldn't even tell him her name. Take that cocky football player!

However, it seems as though the undefeated QB has a bit of a stubborn streak of his own. Not to be deterred by her lack of fawning, Dean continues to try and find out the gorgeous, scowling waitress' name. He does seem to take it too far though, when he starts following her.

Confronting Grace was not his intention but he couldn't keep his foot out of his mouth and more than he can get the tenacious redhead out of his mind. She floats through his mind all the time and it seems like the only way to change that is to know more about her.

But Dean's plan doesn't seem to be working the way he thought. He is investing more time and feeling into Grace than he thought.

Two people with different agendas trying to make it through the semester without distraction, find the ultimate distraction in each other. But will they be enough, or too much for each other?

Emotions weren't supposed to be involved...until now. They had bigger priorities...until now. Each one thought they were fine...until now.

Dean is a football jock! Nothing can distract him from his goal of being drafted for the NFL, until he meets Grace. Suddenly he is completely distracted by her. He begins to get to know her and soon learns there is someone besides Grace to take up his time. Dean has to decide between the family he is falling in love with or the football career he has worked so hard for... or is it possible to have both?

It was so close. So. Close!

At first, I was fully looking forward to this becoming a new favorite romance. Dean was just so sweet, Grace was so strong, and although the player-with-a-heart-of-gold trope might have been a little cliche, do you think I cared? You're darned right I didn't! But then ... the dreaded miscommunication.
SpoilerGrace thought Dean said that he'd like it better if Finn weren't around & promptly proceeded to dump his ass without even asking what the context was for him saying that. Couldn't you at least have some faith in the guy and ask?
TL;DR: Read [b:The Score|27252717|The Score (Off-Campus, #3)|Elle Kennedy|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1493326480l/27252717._SY75_.jpg|45217167] instead. Also a sports romance about a hot player named Dean. (Although, honestly, Dean DiLaurentis is so much hotter!) And you won't have to roll your eyes at the dumb miscommunications either.

My Rating: 5

Dean and Grace's story... this book touched me to my core. It was so wonderful to see Dean go from being the jack-ass football star in high school to a college kid who's found "the one." The story starts pretty simple, boy meets girl. Girl wants nothing to do with the player she knows boy is. Boy becomes a tad obsessed... and stalkerish.

Grace is a smart red-head who is just trying to graduate college and move on with her life - when Dean quite literally barges into her life on numerous occasions, she begins to wonder what their joined paths might bring to her life...

To avoid spoilers, I won't say more... but this book made me laugh out loud and made me cry sweet tears of joy. It was a beautiful version of a new adult relationship and a chance at love for a girl and a boy who truly deserved it. It was also such a sweet surprise to see it entwine with Landon and Emma's story. I was also very glad to see Any play a huge part in this book! I love her so much! That was just icing on the cake, when icing wasn't truly needed to make the cake better!! Ha!
