My first Agatha Christie, in the books (so to speak). Why did it take me so long? I’m not a huge mystery fan, but I love English books from the first half of the 20th century. This was just a lovely read to take me out of work during midterms week. And I picked it because I can’t do horror, but wanted something to mark October. I had no idea who the murderer was but I did figure out at least one of the mysteries long before our narrator.

Which leads me to the narration - not at all what I expected in the first Miss Marlowe book. The vicar as the narrator, and so well done - astute, observant, thoughtful, mostly fair, and yet still just not perfectly reliable. I guess that’s what you want/need in a good mystery….
