DNF
I find that I just can't invest with these books, there is something unlikable either about the characters or the writing.

Almost Just Friends is Jill Shalvis' newest addition to the Wildstone series. I'm loving this series and these characters. This is a story about family, love, loss, hope and friendship. Piper has been taking care of her siblings since she was a teenager. They are all they have. But they are young and have made some mistakes and Piper is just glad they are on their own so she can finally follow her dreams. Until they both come back home. With secrets they aren't ready to share with her yet. When she meets Camden, her neighbor's son, she didn't expect the chemistry to be so strong. There was just something about this sexy, stoic man who pushed all her buttons. And the perfect thing was he was temporary. He was leaving town and she was trying to get out. Then everything changes. Her siblings want to be home. She can't stop wanting Cam. She's scared out of her mind. She can't control all the changes and you know it's bad when she gives herself a timeout! What happens when dreams change? When people come into your life at the exact right moment and change you forever? I can't even express how much I loved this story! Piper and Cam are perfect for each other. They never needed anyone, can take care of themselves and never depended on another person for anything. But now they are learning it's ok to let someone else in. To allow them to care for you. It's a hard lesson to learn though! And her brother and sister are so fantastic! It was four stories in one, including Cam's dad and I couldn't love these characters more! Overall, I love it! I laugh out loud, cried, cheered, smiled, snickered and swooned!

"You know if thought bubbles appeared over your head, you'd be screwed, right?

"You okay?"
"I think so."
"You look surprised."
"It was the kiss. Too bad you can't bottle them up."

She stared at the water and not at Cam. Because looking directly at Cam was oftentimes like looking at a whole pan of buttery soft double-chocolate brownies. Oh go good, and …oh so bad for her.

"I swear, nothing smells better than the person you love."
"Have you ever walked by a Cinnabon?"

Oh man this book I had a like/hate relationship, Piper is the caretaker after their parents died, but wow as they are all older now I just felt like her sibling are really selfish throughout the whole book. It really is no wonder she is so hard wired for control.

I liked that Cam took her out of her own head. Does he hold back some yes but can’t blame the guy when she holds herself back too.

I do like that we get the brother’s romance life mixed in and a little of the sister.
On to the next. Great narration truly love Erin’s narration.

In this story we follow Piper who after raising her two younger siblings is finally ready to restart her life. She almost has enough money to go to school in Colorado to be a nurse. After years of being an EMT she is ready for this, however her siblings both decide to move back home at the same time interrupting Piper's plans. As with most of her books, this is more than just a romance, it's about learning to forgive yourself and those around you. It's about family at its core. Another great read I would highly recommend, maybe by a pool with a fun drink in your hand.

A small town romance is always my go to pick up. When I pick up Almost Just Friends, it really takes me by surprise. This book is really really good. Delicious even, just like Cam.

Cam is the reason why I love this book very much. He is so protective and acts like a glie while Piper trying to hold it together. He is such a swoon worthy hero.

Piper is kick ass heroine. She sacrifices her future to be the parent for her sibling. She is all about responsible. This is a story about family and love. With many secrets and twists on the story, the whole book shines.

The character development is slow but it really builds up nicely.
