I ADORE this book. I read it as a child years and years ago and it’s even better than I remember. I loved finding new metaphors and allegories within it—the new interpretations I’ve gained from rereading this story 10+ years later bring me such joy.
Graphic: Violence
Moderate: War, Death, and Violence

Slightly above average YA novel. I do love the og story but had stayed away from this one only cause it was one of my favorites. Finally read it and glad I did. Impressed they didn't shy away from the original ending for the antagonist which is rather gruesome for a kids story, even though they didn't go into full on detail. I did feel that I wanted it to be a slightly different told take on the original story, but all in all it was a good read.
Graphic: Animal death
Moderate: Murder, Violence, and War
Minor: Death of parent, Bullying, and Toxic friendship
