Pryce writes a very tongue-in-cheek mystery. He seems to delight in mocking Welsh culture, but does so by choosing some of the stereotypes such as the stovepipe hats worn by women at some time in the past, and some of the impossibly spelled names. Some of his descriptive prose is quite beautiful, but gets lost in a convoluted story involving Mossad agents, a dead Santa (who may be Jewish), Pinkertons, and the Welsh colony in Patagonia.
