I had big hopes for this book. The premise of two bad ass chics 1000 years apart yet still their story intertwines? Sounds epic! Magic trials and political intrigue? You have me on baited breath!

It wasn’t a hit or miss. I found the character development okay, not really flat but not anything special. The world building was good but again nothing special. You’d think 1000 years apart their world would be more definable, more different, easier to tell apart. Not so much.

The magic was cool, but I felt the female leads were more special snowflakes. I always knew they were going to come out on top, which gave no suspense. Even for the magic trials.

The sex scenes weren’t exactly steamy, more over the top in verbiage where “worlds shattered and shook”. I liked the positive message of sex, and that it never held the female characters back. Even bi-sexual was represented as a normality.

I did enjoy it all around, and will read the sequel. But I won’t be scrambling to pick up the next book.

I thought it would be good with the premise but i found it slow and boring for majority of it. The different points of views were interesting

Two young women have the power to manipulate all the elements...which fulfills a prophecy foretold years before. They must each grapple with their powers, how their family and friends react to them, and how their country would like to use them.

I didn't particularly care for this book...it almost felt like there was too much going on in the book. Not only were there many different plot lines, but Legrand tried to fit in too many genres (romance and sex scenes, adventure, magic, fantasy, etc.) And it definitely doesn't help that the two main characters were not likable.
