The sequel was even worse than the first book. Even more gratuitous and unnecessary graphic sexual violence.

This was interesting before
Addie was saved
but things after that resulted in me losing interest and increased my dislike for Zade.

This book was hard to read at times but as a sexual assault survivor it was freeing, in a way, to look into the mind of someone else who has been through a similar type of trauma as yourself. It made me think harder about how I felt in those moments and how I feel now if that makes sense. And I saw that, while yes it was horrible and nobody should ever have to experience it, I came out stronger in the end. I didn’t let those instances consume me. They didn’t ruin me and it was never my fault.

- - - - ♡ Hunting Adeline
Rating Overall: ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆

So after being a HUGE fan of Haunting Adeline, I was severely disappointed with 'Hunting Adeline.' I went into this book knowing
that Adeline was kidnapped and put into human trafficking and thus that meant there would be some time spent on her time in the house.
But what I did not know was that this part of the plot was going to be the MAJORITY of the book. While the writing itself was fantastic and I did truly enjoy reading about Adeline's
trauma being sex trafficked,
it was just not what I was reading this book for. It's tagged as a 'Romance Novel, Fiction, Thriller, Suspense, and Erotic literature.' which I don't agree with. While the first book was definitely that, this book was far from it. We don't get to see the two reunited until more than half-way through the book and even then--their dynamic was not at all the same. It lost so much of its spiciness and I found myself bored throughout the entire book. I only gave it two stars because I enjoyed the writing and the exploration of Adeline's trauma and how it didn't dance around what was going on too much. I do wish that it wasn't written like,
yeah these last few months I've been raped a lot.
I honestly would have preferred to read at least one or two scenes so I can *really* feel for Adeline like I was there with her--I know H.D. Carlton would have been able to really put me in that room with her. But ultimately it was given so little stars because it felt like I was lied to in terms of what the contents of the book was going to entail.

TLDR; Less of an erotic book, more of developing then overcoming trauma. Less relationship focused than the first book.
