Like Haunting Adeline, just not my type of book. Again, the world building is great and character development was fantastic. I rated this one higher than the first time because I really appreciated the character growth, the bad ass female character development and how the characters navigated the PTSD subject. But I think my inability to fall in love in with Zade in the first book hindered my enjoyment of this book as well.
Like the first book, the love of this book made sense but it just wasn't one that I fell in love with.

As much as I loved the first one, this book was BETTER.
I couldnt put it down, the storyline was so good, and having both perspectives kept you interested and shouting while reading.
So glad I got recommended this duet.

It takes a certain level of skill to make something as horrific as human trafficking and the surrounding awfulness associated boring.
about halfway through I had to start skimming because once Addie was home again Zade was giving her distance and I liked that. And then Addie was almost raped again by the man who constantly did it to her and in unusually cruel ways so Zade gave her 4 hours to go through reliving the trauma she endured for months until he decided enough is enough, you have to touch me so you can get through your trauma. GROSS. AND THEN, this man decides Addie needs to let him re- cut her over all of the scars she got while being raped so she would only think of Zade now when looking at her scars. GROSS. Why was the epilogue just a sex scene. the most unnecessary epilogue to exist. 1 star for Rio because everything involving him was mildly entertaining.

It was bad written, i did not like how the characters are so childish and the plot went down page after page.
Okay, wow, I thought Haunting was dark, but this one took it to an insane level. Thankfully I had warning from the note at the beginning of the book to be prepared. Please check your TWs for this one.
That being said, as tough as this one was to get through for the first half, I was so invested in the story and the characters. Dammit, I keep getting attracted to hot, sexy murders.
