The second book in this duology took me by surprise
I thought it would have the same intensity as the first book
But this one was alot worse
It kept me glued I'll admit

Alot of the themes from the first book was continued in this one, yet I give this one a higher rating not because I agree with the concepts, whereas the first book i didn't. but the amount of emotions it invoked in me; heartbreak, disbelief, sadness, joy.....simply by that I increased the amount of stars

Because isn't that one of the essential ingredients of a good book, a book that makes you feel ?

Also this book has made me question everything I said about the first book
It seems the worst monsters aren't the stalkers you fall in love with

Is it still wrong?
Yes- you know what the first book I defined as messed up, I think I'd like to retrieve that statement and name this book messed up

Like i said, Not deviating from the themes from the first book, neither the cringey stuff Zade says, like who says : "I was born with a blackened soul"

One thing I did like is that even though I've heard the books were supposed to be full of smut, which it was don't get the wrong - but after Adelaine goes through some horrendous things that she has trauma afterwards

We don't immediately get into the two characters wanting to sleep with each other

I like that the author didn't skim over Addie's trauma like it didn't happen and actually adresses it and works towards healing or moreso finding a way to love with the trauma

And I know Zade was initially a stalker and all but I like that he didn't pressure her into anything and was so patient with her throughout it all

I'll admit my heart softened to him just a little bit
He is still toxic and kinda crazy
But like the first book, I made it to the end which signifies that maybe deep down tona certain extent I liked his craziness
Cringe-ness and all

A dark, twisted romance. Lots of graphic scenes but so worth it. Sad the series is over.

Um okay so this was... good?

I actually can't believe the same author who wrote the cringefest of book 1 wrote this too. If you are strong enough to survive the laughable first book and to get through the disgustingly detailed scenes of rape, torture and murder in book 2, I think I might even recommend this.

I never could have guessed what this book would be about. Even reading it, I had no idea where it was going. We moved on from a weird stalker romance to the complexity of human trafficking and severe trauma, which was a very interesting dive. I liked that the author wasn't scared to throw her main characters into deep shit and truly fuck them up; we rarely see this. The ending was quite anti-climatic and it took a bit too long to get there, but at least it was a closed conclusion. The thing that bothered me the most was honestly the weird sex that Zade and Addie have, it either made me laugh or made me uncomfortable. Maybe the reason I enjoyed book 2 much more was that only a few of their sex scenes were included.

Anyway, overall not a complete disaster. I'm quite impressed.

Another great mood read! Darker than the first book and some of it was hard to read. The female lead was getting a bit annoying with how hot and cold she was. I really liked all the other characters in this book vs the handful in the first book. Good story and development. I don't feel like it drug on like the first one.
