This book is wayyy darker than the first one and admittedly I had to listen to a lot of it on audiobook. It was fantastic though and the redemption in part 2 is soooo good! Definitely worth a read but also be cautious about the trigger warnings.

With a box of tissues at the ready, I will be picking this book up again one day. This book broke my heart over and over again, poor Adeline went to hell and back throughout this book but I’m so glad she found her way out and that Zade was ready to do anything to save her.
The first part of this book was full of a lot of sensitive topics and it was quite traumatising to read. However, the second part of the book was full of revenge and it was done so well!

My first thought after finishing the book was “those were certainly all words”
I’m not sure dark romance is the right title for a book like this, horror romance probably better captures
I thought at first I would like this one more than the first, but the last quarter of the book is where it took a massive dive down for me
This is super super dark, check your triggers if you have any at all, there are so many different dark things covered here
The angle they went after Adeline was captured was quite intriguing even with how dark it was
But at about the 3/4 mark the book started to drag and just felt so over the top, it went bad for me
This book will stay with me for a while, that doesn’t mean though that I will give a high star rating
The relationship displayed was very one note, which I thought would be different after the first part of the book
By the end I was rolling my eyes as it felt it was the same over and over again

Eighteen months later and somehow every page, every scene, every goddamn scream still lives rent-free in my head.
If you thought Haunting Adeline was dark—Hunting takes that and rips it open, bone-deep. This is not a romance. This is a full-throttle psychological horror with a pulse. It explores the ugliest corners of humanity: human trafficking, rape, sexual abuse, psychological torment, and yes, gruesome murder. And if that doesn’t make you squirm, it probably should.
The tension? Suffocating. The emotional toll? Back-breaking.
And while I appreciated the story’s brutal honesty and raw grit, I’m not going to lie—pain as pleasure is a hard no for me. That edge was a little too sharp.
But credit where it’s due: Carlton knows how to hold a reader hostage. And by the end? I was bloody, broken, and still couldn’t look away.
You don’t read this book—you endure it.

4.25 stars. Really liked it, could have been better in some parts, honesty it’s hard to remember everything that happened but overall it was good.
