Content was extreme

Even though the trigger/content warnings are present at the very beginning of the book, it didn’t quite feel like preparation enough.

***

“IMPORTANT NOTE: This book contains very dark triggering situations, particularly a four letter one that starts with R and ends with E, though NOT between the main characters. Is that creative enough, ‘Zon? These scenes can be detailed, so please proceed with caution. There is also graphic violence, sexual assault, explicit sexual situations, human trafficking, PTSD, and very particular kinks such as blood play, knife play, degradation, and somnophilia. This book is significantly darker than the first. Please take these warnings seriously. Your mental health matters.”

The author then also says: “If you are expecting a quick reunion, then this book isn’t for you.”

***

They really weren’t joking about the level of graphic detail as well as how drawn out the reunion is. Literally, the first HALF of the book is just brutal and extremely graphic torture and rape.

The entire first half.

300 pages.

I was genuinely physically ill reading multiple scenes. Like the author says, take these warnings seriously.

The 1-star rating isn’t due to a lack of content/trigger warnings. I just can’t understand why it was necessary to include 300 pages of non-stop rape and torture? I’ve seen others saying that it was necessary to drive the plot but in this case, I think it would’ve been okay to tell and not show so often and in such detail.
