It got better. It almost was a dnf at like chapter 16 but it got better. Definitely a lot more harsher triggers then haunting adeline that's for sure. Would I read it again? Haunting adeline absolutely, this one probably not...
This book was definitely more triggering than the first, not for the faint of heart. Read the TW‘s at the beginning, your mental health matters. Holy fuck what a roller coaster of emotions. The writing was much improved from the first book. Although it does fall under dark romance, I feel thriller might be a better fit. I did not need to read about 200 pages of the FMC being tortured and assaulted. Still, I absolutely loved the book. “‘I don’t even know your last name.’ ‘ Meadows, baby. Our last name is Meadows.’” I’m deceased
Ya no this is not it.
First off trigger warning ⚠️ , this is way worse then the first book. I almost lost it with disgust and anger on chapter 8 and it definitely got worse from there. You will read several chapters that will eat at your soul until, like the main character, you numb yourself to get through it.
Several parts drag and romance has lost all sense. Addy mentions that she needs therapy and I agree.
I do credit that the author made me feel some really strong emotions so that’s why this is 2 stars and not 1.

Loved!
This 2nd book in the Cat & Mouse duet was fantastic. Yes, it’s a dark read and you should definitely read trigger warning BUT I devoured this book! I already loved the characters from the prequel and then the 1st book of the duet! I loved the whole thing. The pain and emotion, the fight, the fear, the love and the spice. I was addicted to this book and am moving on to Where’s Molly!

The second book, Hunting Adeline, was much more intense than the first. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. Adeline is kidnapped and sold to a matron, so it could be very triggering.
Trigger warnings include human trafficking, graphic violence, rape. Please check the whole list before reading this one! Honestly, I cried so much during this book for everything Adeline had to go through.
Zade does everything in his power to track and rescue Adeline. There is a massive change in their dynamic and I really loved how malleable Zade was. In the first book, he is very dominant and “I take what I want” could have been his motto, but in this book he is there for Adeline, helping her with her trauma.
Favourite quote: “I may own every breath in your body, but make no mistake, Adeline, you own mine, too. I am yours to command. To bend and break. To hold and manipulate. Do you think that makes me weak? Or do you think I’m strong enough to admit that even though my body can physically live on without you, I would never get my fucking soul back?”

this was a good book. it was extremely hard to get through the first what 350 pages? I knew zade was working on getting to her but nevertheless it was still a tough read. I could’ve sworn he said in the first book that he wouldn’t lay a hand on her unless it was like pleasure or something along those lines but def cut her up a lot lmfao? again contradictory. very curious on what’s up w sibby..would’ve liked some closure with that, but other than that this is a solid duet. probably would only read haunting Adeline again, this book was definitely heavier.
