Un poco enrevesada la historia, pero no está mal. No es de mis sagas favoritas de la novela negra nórdica, pero la verdad es que se dejan leer y me intrigan, y más esta con relación con el nazismo.

A very intricate, intelligent mystery filled with old secrets, hatred, and revenge. I'd never read Neuhaus before (I was rec'd Snow White Must Die, but that had a line of holds at the library so I went for this one instead). I really enjoyed the make-up of the K11 team and that Kirchhoff and Bodenstein are not stock loner detectives. As an American, I was really interested in the representations of old Germany with the shadows of the Third Reich in the background and how that played into class prejudices and relationships. Definitely going to read more. (I'm also wondering if I shouldn't also track these down in the original German to practice reading fluency.)

Edit to add: I was also RELIEVED to finally read a contemporary mystery that did not center solely on violence, specifically sexual violence, toward women. There are bits around the edges but that is not the sole driving point or object of the murders.

An okay police procedural written I'm a not so great translation. I'll probably read the next one in the series, though. I prefer Tana French, I think.

Ugh. The entire time I kept waiting to get to the good part. During the action and answer filled ending, I STILL kept waiting to get to the good part.

A good mystery with twists I did not see coming. A very very large cast of characters that was hard to keep straight and a bit slow at times. I'd try another mystery by this German author though.
