I thought the retelling was recalling cute, especially since it was done with my favorite sport. I felt as it was a bit rushed at the end. I thought the showing of the pressure of being famous was done nicely.

Got the ARC at ALA last year, and to be honest, I was expecting to weed this one from my collection after reading it. But almost immediately I was having a great time. I liked both of the characters, the story was fun, the tension and falling out was believable. I’ll probably check out more of this author’s books.
It was ok.. ? It was short and entertaining, which is why I borrow it from the library, but I was hoping for more. But the writing was nice.
It was like a very short fanfiction of T.S if her boyfriend was playing Baseball instead ? (And I don't think it's untrue since some of the "comments" on social media reporting her action were T.S's songs titles.. Oo)
The end was a little to abrupt.

This was a fun little read but doesn't have a whole lot to offer.
The romance was cute, but I don't think we saw a lot of depth in how the characters were falling for each other, and it felt a little rushed, with their chemistry being the only real thing fueling the romance. Which is fine, just a little far fetched.
So obviously Lacey is meant to be Taylor Swift, but I am a fool who spent the whole book wondering if Jimmy was based on a real life MLB player instead of realizing he's just Travis Kelce in a different sport. My bad. I think the similarities to real-world are numerous enough to be a little uncomfortable and might have appreciated more of an effort to distinguish Lacey from the person she's clearly inspired by? idk, to be fair I'm not a big fan so I'm not sure how much was taken from life and how much was fiction.
The conflict felt plausible to me! But the ending is definitely rushed.
The supporting characters were all flat and bland, which is fine I guess - this isn't a serious book.

I was cautious going into this because I thought the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce of it all would take me out of the story. But I was pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed this read, and definitely bought in to the characters chemistry. It felt a little too fast paced, and I wished for more time with the characters to watch their development a bit more.
Pop star meets famous athlete and romance ensues.... a very relevant story at this point in time. It was okay, but the drama that unfolded was mostly due to miscommunication and ego which is my least favourite.
