If you’ve ever looked at Taylor and Travis, and wanted to read the romance of a popstar and a professional athlete, this is absolutely the book for you! So adorable, great banter, and spice right from the beginning. 🫶

Heavy Hitter is a face-paced open door romance about a pop star and a baseball player. The two meet serendipitously, and a relationship grows from there. This is an open door romance with many a scene, but the plot also unfolds nicely between the two lovebirds trying to figure out what makes sense for them. In 2024, it was hard not to feel like this was a Travis Kelce/Taylor Swift inspired romance. Additionally, there were many Friends references and a brother “Matty” who died too young. I personally don’t think any of this was coincidence, and it definitely broke me up inside, but ultimately I’m glad to know that these events are living on in literature.

This was a very short and sweet romance between mega pop star Lacey Logan and MLB catcher Jimmy Hodges. I loved the beginning stages of their relationship where they’re in their respective hotel rooms giggling on the phone playing 20 questions getting to know each other. The way their relationship starts off is very much like an average person who’s out of the limelight. It was cute and felt relatable. But like I said, it’s a short and sweet romance. I wish there was a little more. More background on Lacey’s mom and why she’s the way she is, more on Jimmy and Lacey’s relationship post retirement, and also how did the World Series go??? Left it on a little cliff hanger there. Overall a cute book.

This was 3-3.5 stars for me!

I enjoyed the plot of the story but the characters just didn't do it for me. I felt no connection with the pro baseball player or the pop star - so that made the connection to the characters hard for me. Although the progression of the story and chemistry was enjoyable, there was something lacking in this for me.

Not my typical read but a good palette cleanser inbetween horror and thriller novels. A cute romance novel about a mega famous singer (think TSwift) and a ready to retire baseball player falling for each other and the mess that comes between them.

This was just a very fun read and I’m so happy that Cotugno took her speculation on Instagram to the very real place of having this book exist. Shout out to Jimmy’s chain which you know was obviously so important to me.
