I was disappointed with this one. Lacey is a carbon copy of Taylor Swift and I felt her character fell flat in the novel because there was nothing unique about her. Maybe it was the short length of this book (240 pages or 7 hours) but this felt like the two main characters immediately jump into sleeping together with no dialogue or chemistry between them.
I also found the two narrators for this novel had such flat tones and expressiveness that it was beyond boring to listen too.
I would not recommend this novel and that's disappointing given it had great potential as a concept.

A play on the Taylor/Travis romance with a baseball player on the cusp of retirement - bumping into pop star Lacey one random night in NYC.
Grumpy older player, worldwide pop star... what could go wrong?
It's a quick read highlighting some of the pressures of celebrity and how it helps. and hurts- relationships. Throw in some spice and drama - it's a page turner.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Perennial for an ARC.

This was a very fun and quick read. Not hard to be invested in T Swift Fan Fic, especially since I like baseball more than football. I enjoyed the read, but thought the charcuterie were a little too dysfunctional for me to root for them being together… I’d still read another book by Katie, though this HEA was not very satisfying.

Diving into a celebrity romance novel can be a delightful escape, and this one promised a whirlwind of fun, read in just a day. It was amusingly surreal, almost like delving into a narrative spun from Taylor Swift's own romantic escapades. The blossoming romance at the heart of the story had its genuinely tender moments, capturing the sweetness of newfound love.
However, the narrative felt somewhat unfinished. Intriguing plot points were introduced—his brother's tragic demise, his battle with alcohol, her fraught relationship with her mother, and the growing gap with her assistant—yet these threads dangled without development. They were mere whispers in a tale that could have roared. The conclusion, too, was jarringly swift, leaving a lingering sense of dissatisfaction.
One can't help but ponder if the author, Katie Cotugno, or perhaps the influences of her editorial team, were keen to ride the wave of the Taylor/Travis mania that has gripped the nation. The novel had the skeleton of a standout story, yet it lacked the flesh to bring it to life. It stood on the brink of greatness, only to falter at the final hurdle—a narrative with the promise of a home run that unfortunately didn't quite make it to base.
