This was such a cute and charming romance! Heavy Hitter pairs a soon-to-retire baseball player with a rising musician, and the chemistry between Jimmy and Lacey totally worked for me. Their dynamic felt natural and fun, with just the right balance of flirtation and emotional depth.

The story moved at a nice pace, and I appreciated how both characters had their own arcs outside of the romance. The audiobook narration was solid too—engaging and well-performed, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

If you're into sports romances with heart, a bit of spice, and two characters figuring things out while falling for each other, this one's worth picking up!

This was a swing and a miss for me (pun intended). The first half of this book was okay, a little cringey at times due to the FMC so clearly being copy and pasted to be Taylor Swift in this universe. This is basically Taylor/Travis fan fiction but make it baseball, and with zero depth. The relationship was so surface level, there was no real romance other than a little bit of flirting at the beginning. The MMC was very unlikable, he was so conceited and was toxic masculinity in a bottle. He didn’t think the FMC was anything more than a stereotypical celebrity. He never bothered to correct his misconceptions of her, but then would just quickly apologize, then they would hook up and that’s it. There were opportunities to explore deeper parts, but they were never explored.

4.25 stars. This was so good!! I always crave miscommunication, and this book DELIVERED. SO ANGSTY. I will say, I do think it helped my enjoyment that I'm fairly ambivalent towards Taylor Swift- there was no idealized version of the character I thought Lacey should be. I do think, however, this book needed fifty more pages to dive a little more into Jimmy's issues being emotionally vulnerable and maybe also Lacey's issues with her mom.

This was ASS! I picked it up thinking it would be a decent baseball romance and it was quite literally, verbatim, a story of Taylor and Travis just as baseball!!! The only thing good about this book was the pace, not too many chapter ending cliff hangers, but somewhat kept me reading. “I had to practice singing my songs on the treadmill” GIRL THAT IS NOT ORIGINAL. It was actually insane, DO NOT RECOMMEND! If anyone has any baseball romance books let me know!
